Re: NDS Has Arrived, Now What Games?

Hi.
I've put this into the Games section.
Have a read through some threads (especially the "best games" one) to give you a good idea.

Having said that, I recommend:
  • MarioKart DS - which you've already ordered
  • New Super Mario Bros - casual gamers like this as much as core ones
  • Brain Training - good choice
  • Prof Layton & the curious village - great little puzzle type mystery style adventure game (think I've got all the genres there )
  • Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme - can't beat good old fashioned arcade games imo (updated of course)

I would also recommend Zelda Phantom Hourglass but I think that may be slightly too "core" for you? (if you want to try it, you probably won't be able to put it down though :D)

Zoo Keeper is pretty essential if you have the remotest interest in Bejewled style puzzle games(hugely addictive!)

Picross is something very differerent, almost zen like, think of it as a picture sudoku, one of my favourite DS games and highly recommend it.

Yoshis Island, superb little platformer and for me knocked the socks of New Super Mario, save system is much better than NSM aswell(which was a nightmare for short play sessions, only being able to save every few levels).

Another vote for Prof. Layton. I finished it last night (still have about 8 puzzles left and all of the bonuses to do though) and it gave me so far about 14 hours playing time.
