Help required with Nintendogs labrador

Hello, I wonder if anyone can advise. My son has Nintendogs labrador for his nintendo DS which he has had since before Christmas. His sister was playing it and accidently DONATED one of the dogs instead of dropping her off at the dog hotel. My son is devasted as he believes once doggy is donated you cannot retrieve it. Is this correct? Or is there a way we can get Frankie the husky back home?

Incidentally the wife is devastated too as she played with Frankie when the kids were in bed. If anyone can offer help it would be much appreciated. thanx
