Advice wanted: Games for 8 year old girl

My niece is after some DS games for her birthday but has not been specific - so am looking for ideas.

Currenty has the following:

MarioKart; Brain Training and Dog thingy.

Suggestions welcome.

Can't go wrong with New Super Mario Bros. My daughter (now 10) keeps returning to it as there's so many collectables. Gameplay is excellent and adults will enjoy a quick blast too

How about "Kirby Super Star Ultra" or "Tinker Bell"?

Cheers

Re: Advice wanted: Games for 8 year old girl

I'm personally not a great fan of the Image, baby this and pets that type games. I wouldn't even call them games to be honest. They're marketed towards young gamers and they're not really that good.

There's much better games out there that are actually made to be good, and not just to make money.

I personally like to use stuff like this as a guide:

Metacritic: Index of Nintendo DS Game Reviews by Score

he highest rated Games like Advanced Wars, Chrono Trigger and Castlevania might not tickle her fancy, but there are games like Mario & Luigi, Zelda, Elite Beat Agents and Animal Crossing that I think would highly appeal to her and they're actually worth playing.

It's just a case of working your way down the list, clicking the link and picking ones out.

If there's some games your unsure about you could always google it for reviews, Gamesradar it like I like to do, or ask on here for some opinions.

Edit - Oh I see how old this thread is, but I hope my opinion/advice can be used by ash and possibly others too.
