4th July releases - Space Invaders, Arkanoid, Vegas

Space Invaders Extreme: Liking the look of this one. Neat 'techno' soundtrack and the sound effects of missiles and enemies being disposed of are timed in with the beat of the music leading to some unique kicking bass musical variations (if you're good enough).

Retains enough of the original Invaders gameplay but adds power-ups, boss stages, mutating invaders etc. etc. The whole game looks very polished and is compatible with the DS paddle. Deffo on my list of games to get!

Arkanoid DS: Another DS paddle compatible is Arkanoid DS. Unfortunately us lucky ones in the UK have to buy the paddle separately (and I think you can only import at the moment). Loads of colourful levels, usual power-ups and it's mid-price so worth a look.

Road to Vegas: Looks to be a complex Casino sim, players starting in Blackpool, UK and having to complete a trek to Las Vegas. Loads of Casino games - looks like this is the first casino sim that has loads of detail and great front-end presentation. The slots (for those who play them in the pubs) even offer trails, hi-lo, nudges and feature boards / stacks - they're not all those boring 5 win lines and nothing else to do type.

Space Invaders Extreme and Arkanoid DS are two games I've been looking forward too. Apparently they both work with the Taito motion paddle (attaches in the GBA slot)......so I'm hoping we'll be able to buy that add-on on the 4th too

I've got the Japanese versions of Space Invaders and Arkanoid, so it will be good to see the Western releases and be able to read the text.

I just got the Japanese Arkanoid complete with the paddle controller. There is not that much of a problem with the Japanese menus as some of it is in English (main options) and the shop options are pretty self explanatory when you get in them, so I won't bother with an English Language version.

I just ordered Space Invaders (for further paddle use). The American version (same prices as the UK version and free postage). I prefer the American/Japanese game boxes as they are slimmer.

Space Invaders Extreme is excellent - easily the best update to the classic game that I've seen since 1978 !

Space Invaders Extreme is brilliant fun....but they're not releasing that Taito paddle with it

Seems a bit nuts that the Euro version of Arkanoid DS isn't packaged with the paddle controller and that the paddle isn't even available separately in Europe!

Still, apparently it's best to play Space Invaders Extreme without it, as some people say that the use of the paddle makes it too easy.
