Contra 4 (and other absurdly difficult games)

Is anyone else playin Contra 4? I read the reviews which said it was good, which it is, and that it was also mercilessly unforgiving.

Words alone cannot accurately convey just how unforgiving, though. After a few days of on-off playing, I can still only make it to the level two boss (can't beat him) - and that's on "easy". Ha, easy, yeah right.

I'll keep on playing for now, but it might just be that the game's difficulty is too much, for me at least.

Anyone else found this with Contra 4 (tell me it's not just me, please), or any other DS games?

I remember playing the first one I think ages ago and loving it.......maybe they updated the difficulty in line with what they thought would fit in with today's gamers?

...... although if it's as difficult as you say, it sounds like it's appealing to the hardcore more than the usual casual.

The game I found most tricky on the DS was megaman zx....not helped by the poor controls (imho) - traded in very quickly

People who have only used their DSes for playing Animal Crossing, Nintendogs and the like would do well to avoid Contra. I'm sure it's going to be great (what I've seen so far as been), and there's a whole host of unlockables there. The problem, of course, is unlocking them.

I love Contra 4...well the 1st level anyway (cant get any further than that lol). It's one of those game that, although I'm rubbish at it cause it's insanely hard, I cant stop playing. One day I'll make it to level 2 lol.
It's a similar story with Ikagura on xbox live...cant get past level 2 but cant stop playing it...maybe I'm just a sadist lol

I've got to level two on Contra, and after some time made it to the boss. Then that was it. Grr...
