Re: Guitar Hero DS!

The button add-on certainly looks a great idea, didn't see how it could work on the DS until I saw that nifty little device

Would defiantly need to be played using headphones though as the DS Lite speakers are very weak IMO.

Thumbs up Re: Guitar Hero DS!

Hi,
I got back from the states today. I bought the game yesterday. I have had about an hour with it so far. It works really well. Initial impressions are great. Plays really well. I must say it works best with some decent headphones on for obvious reasons. In the box you get the game (Obviously), The guitar grip which has a nice velcro adjustable strap and you can put different skins in the grip, you get a skin in the box, The pick which is like quite a thick pick with a tiny stylus poking out of the end. The stylus stores away in the grip so you don't lose it. There's also a couple of sheets of stickers like you get in the other GH games but in miniature. A quick guide and full manual. Also included is an adaptor so you can plug the grip into an original DS. All in all a great package for the money and all seems good quality and will last. I paid $45 for it.
I'll try and post up some piccies later or tomorrow.
Cheers, Rich

erm, already on, but them things still get scratched, who is going to be bothered replacing them?, I'd rather just not play games that abuse the touch screen, eg.. mario & sonic.... I got 3 Horri Spares though just in case...

Re: Guitar Hero DS!

OK been playing this, comes with a DS extension adapter so you can fit the grip on the OLD ds, but I use it so I can fit the grip on my DS Lite with the crystal/protector case on there..

First things first is that it's kind of awkward to press the buttons, you really need BIG hands to reach them, I think they should of used 3 buttons as 4 is too much, also after 30seoncds orso of playing your hands really start to ache..

Also the 3d graphics on the left screen are really Bad!!, but as your are concentrating on hitting the buttons and trying to push the pain in your hand away you don't really lpay attention to what's happening on the left screen apart form what buttons you need to hit..

The strumming is quite good as you can whammy on the touch screen at the same time, but you have to take your hand of the screen if you want to use the star power as you need to hit a/b/x/y or you can yell out but I doubt anyone would do that.... you don't really have time ot take yourhand off the touch screen though.

As for gameplay only tried quick play on normal I found I hit most of the notes, not bad, wish it had the guitar hero 3 songs though.... you have songs like All the Small things and Are you going ot be my girl which don't really suit it...

Will play some more and let you know my thoughts...

Was pretty gentle on the strokes though, you don't really need to put much force in them but I can see a lot of broken screens appearing...

Oh dear.....

Well given that there are only six songs on that list that I would be remotely interested in playing/listening to and no DLC capability I will be giving this a miss. Was always going to be difficult to strike the right balance on a fixed track list entity in a time when we are used to DLC to take the sting out of the less desirable tracks but this balance just does not suit me.

Thanks for posting the list though, saved me some cash!

Re: Guitar Hero DS!

Genuine question: you guys can play this?

My youngest brother was playing it (and quite good too!) when I visited Manchester for his birthday. He seemed to be contorting his hand into a claw and he is only... erm 13 now, so I cannot imagine how Veron Kay plays it
