puzzle type games

Just got a new ds lite because i had a go on my sisters tetris game, which i loved. Can anyone recommend any other good puzzle games as im not a fan of platform games ( i also like racing games too). I used to love bust a move but this has not had very good reviews. Thanks

Re: puzzle type games

The most addictive puzzle games I own (both of which I highly recommend) are:
  1. Prism: Light the Way
  2. Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Mini's

The former is relatively new, but the latter is an older title and so chances are you can pick it up cheaply.

P.S. MvDK2:MotM looks like a platformer but is actually a great puzzle game in the form of a lemmings style "get the marios to the exit" type thing.

Re: puzzle type games

Have you tried Neves?
Its a shape placing puzle game where you have to arrange shapes over a template to make a picture. Very simple but quite addictive.

Re: puzzle type games

A new recommendation from me......Prof. Layton and the Curious Village.

Premise: you explore a village and every time you meet someone/find something (VERY frequently) you have to solve some random puzzle.

Sounds simple (in many respects it is) but it's filled to the brim with brain-busting puzzles.

This is definitely a gem that I think you'd like.

Zoo Keeper closely followed by Picross are my favourite puzzlers on the DS, both hugely addictive.

Re: puzzle type games

I don't know if any of you would class Big Bang Mini as a puzzle game but it is kind of one. I played a demo of it via the Wii's DS demo service on the Nintendo Channel. It's a great little game where you have a little spaceship and shoot fireworks at various objects on the top screen in order for them to release stars which you then collect by moving your ship around with the stylus. I suppose it's more closely related to Space Invaders than anything else but you have to make sure you hit something otherwise if you miss then the firework's sparks/debris will fall down on you and you then have to navigate around them without getting hit (as well as dodging enemy fire from above).

Sorry I think this probably isn't a puzzle game and I therefore retract it as a suggestion (I am a fool lol).

Re: puzzle type games

You can check here for three pages worth of recommendations. Thread's kinda out of date but most of the games you most likely wouldn't have tried.

Re: puzzle type games

Prism is the best puzzle game I've played for ages. Teaches your kids about light physics too and is rock hard on later levels.
