If you could only choose 1 game for the DS, what would it be?

Puzzle League. I discarded it as just another block shifting game when I first played it, but I've become incredibly addicted to it recently. I play the single player "Clear" game most, but all the games are fun.

Runners up: Tetris, Zelda:Phantom Hourglass, Ouendan.

Point Blank DS

Although formerly an arcade shooting game, and a pretty shallow one at that, the DS touchscreen really sets this game off. Not to mention theres still the multiplayer element which is where its all about.

Still a shallow game though, but I still love it!

I hope they bring our a Point Blank 2, and add the ability to choose every level for 2-player mode.

Mario Kart by a million miles.

I wish I could answer Zelda, but it was the biggest gaming disapointmnet of the year for me, in fact the weakest Zelda ever.

Mario Kart is a DS game that actually outshines it's bigger console competitors and is, I think, the best "fun" racing game ever made.

Could only be improved with far better online gaming, lobbies, but that is more the DS restrictions. I hate snakers too!

Mario Kart DS is probably my favourite DS game.
Though, a few honourable mentions:

I'd like to say Mariocart, but since starting animal crossing over 2 months ago I can't leave it alone and it has taken over my life.

Both my boys also have a copy each. And now refuse to play any of their other games.

Oooh, toughie.
If I could cheat, or the rules stated only one cart rather than one game, it would be a flash cart so that I could put lots of games on.
However, I think it would be a close run thing between Zookeeper, Animal Crossing or an RPG like FF III.
Something interesting I just noticed, two of these could possibly be classed as casual games - pick up and play for half an hour - although I've never once just played for half an hour! The one-more-go of Zookeeper or the collect-everything-and-pay-off-my-mortgage on Animal Crossing keeps me engrossed for hours.
Could Miyamoto/ Nintendo be right in that casual gaming is the future? If we want a games console to be ubiquitous in the living room, instead of preaching to the converted, should we be encouraging the masses to be playing Wii Fit and Touch Generation games?
That way when they get hooked, you introduce them to the harder stuff...

i'd take diddy kong over mario kart any day, so much more you can do, mario kart is just an overhyped kart racing game...

crosswords ds is very addicting

metal slug 7 is ok ish

not tried zelda yet

am playing diddy kong online a lot, trying to get a 6 player game going

It's a very close call between Zelda and Animal Crossing for me, with AC just shading it.

Yeah, Picross sure is a great little game, probably only slightly eclipsed by Zoo Keeper for me, the only game that's truely had me hooked for months on end on the DS(funny thing is it isn't a game I would have bought, belongs to the missus but got hooked to the leaderboard battles, shame you can't reset them as they're too high now!).
