DS 2 Discussion Thread

Sorry if I'm overstepping my bounds here but I thought I'd start a discussion thread for the next generation of the DS. I found this article describing how nVidia are going to be supplying the chips for the next console: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/n...d-in-2010.html

It sounds like we could be getting HD-quality graphics, perhaps on a par with the PSP's. So what else do you guys want to see in the next model?

I'm guessing that it will include all the features of the DSi unless of course Nintendo want people to buy both models to make even more money! If it does include a camera then I hope the increase the camera's megapixel's and possibly give it video capabilities.

People can easily add their own SDHC card for recording movies etc and then it could be a rival to the pocket cam market. I hope they also improve the touch-controls as they can be a bit hit and miss sometimes.

And finally, how about a DS VC store where we can download and play old handheld games like GBA, Game Gear etc.

Re: DS 2 Discussion Thread

I doubt it will be HD as that would mean a minimum screen res of 1280×720 (i.e. 720p which is between XGA and WXGA).

I don't think there are any small touch screens around that have this many pixels crammed in (not even the slightly larger PSP size).

Besides which, the big N will try to "milk" the DS market as much as possible with the new DSi first so I think it's probably at least 2-3 years away ....

Re: DS 2 Discussion Thread

I hope it's not any time soon, I only just bought the dsi a couple of weeks ago!

With dsi at around £150 I'd shudder to think how much an hd ds would cost if released now.

I think they have to compete with the rising popularity of iPhone games as well as the psp now. Perhaps the new version will have finger sensitive screen and do away with the stylus?
