DS Lite Power Issues

Just in time for my holiday next week my DS Lite battery died on me. I can run the DS of the mains quite happily but the original battery just won't charge.

I thought ok it is a few years old so I will just get a new one. Purchased one of these which seems to work and I can play on battery however the DS randomly freezes after about 5 mins of play

Anyone had anything similar? Do I just think it is a dodgy battey and get it replaced? Do I bite the bullet and pay Nintendo £10 for a genuine replacement?

Re: DS Lite Power Issues

Try restoring to Factory settings (don't worry, your game progress is saved on the cart itself so all you'll be doing is resetting the DS itself):
  • Remove the back cover & battery.
  • Leave empty for 15 minutes.
  • Replace the battery and re-screw in the cover.

There may be many reasons for the freezing but hopefully in your case it's something simple that a reset may fix .

EDIT: Also try the classic "Ninty Cart Trick" from the NES days ---- blow in the game cart and also in the DS slot in order to remove any dust which may be causing issues.

Re: DS Lite Power Issues

Is it still not charging ?

If not I know exactly what the problem is.

It's a blown fuse. We get lots of these in to repair.

As for replacing the battery a $5 job from eBay will do the job.
