Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
I took the plunge and ordered one of these today . I had the chance to demo it next to the In82 which has had many great reviews .
After trawling these and many other pages i decided to go and demo a unit . I am not a experienced projector enthusiast , in fact this is my first one but i feel ive gained some great knowledge on this site .
The picture looked very sharp and the contrast was much better than a few LCD pj's ive demoed . I dont know how black some people can see but the blacks looked very dark to me . On watching some action scenes , the picture seemed to handle the motion with no problems although i would say that the 82 seemed to have a bit more depth , but that would cost £1200 more ! The fan was very quiet for the time it was on and my head was very close to it .
To sum up i think this PJ is bloomin' great value

re: Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
Well Done yukichon,
I have been looking at this PJ myself but have found no where to demo it in London. I was going to ask Sevenoaks who said they maybe able to get it in!
I was also looking at the Sanyo Z2000, an LCD in the same price bracket.
May I ask how what screen size are you going for? have you also ordered a screen if so where from?
Oh and lastly what did you get your IN80 for and where?
Cheers mate, well done.

re: Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
Hi , i too looked athe Sanyo but personaly i think this wins hands down . Im going for a 7ft Fixed Frame screen which is very high quality . You can demo it now at the smae place which is intoAV in Stevenage, there website is www.intoav.com , im getting the pj , screen and a bracket for £1535 which i think is a bargain , the screen alone costs about £475 ! And they are really nice people and very helpful

Congrats yukichon on your new IN80.
Could you please post a pic of the unit with a familaiar object to understand the length of the PJ from back to the lens side? Like a scale or newspaper?
Cheers

Hey yukichon,
does this mean your finding your in80 loud? Any sign of the dreaded rainbow effect?
I am thinking about taking up this offer but am surprised that I cant find any mention of the in80 on the infocus website, here.
Cheers,
Branners

re: Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
Hi All
I've been running this pj for a month now and i'm impressed. Also saw this set up at INTOAV in stevenage, they demo'd this next to the IN82 and i still brought it so shows what a bargain it is really.

re: Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
As dazMD said , i see it next to the IN82 and there wasnt much difference at all , all i would say is that the 82 had a bit more depth to the picture , but waht do i know ..... i did see the X10 elsewhere and found the diffrence to the In80 quite big ... so if i were you , get the What HiFi S & V Awards mag and see what they say

re: Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
Yukichon Great thread and thanks for the pictures here and your Media room build.
Just placed an order for the IN80 after weeks of debating between the X10 and Panasonic PT-AE2000!. The What HiFi award helped with the final decision. My first PJ at last !
Been following the Forum and trying to get as much info on the PJ. I note that IN80 details are not on the InFocus web site!
Does any one have any guidance on the anamorphic lens option for 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Does anyone have the lens and give guidance or is it an unnecessary gimmick?
Thanks in advance.

re: Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
Hi Guys,
Well I am another owner of the Infocus IN80 , I bought it about 3 weeks ago but have been too busy with work to post.
I also ended up going to INTOAV, I would definately recommend them, they were relaxed and just left me to it, I didnt feel preasured at all to buy which was great!.
I didnt bother comparing the PJ as it was in my price range unlike the IN82/IN83 which they had! So I relaxed on the sofa and one of the guys hooked up the PJ and literally rested it next to me on the sofa!
I must admit I didnt even notice the fan noise whilst watching a movie, yes it was there but the PJ was right next to me.
I took along Casino Royale as my choice of Blue Ray DVD and have used that DVD when testing LCD's/Plasma's.
In short I was blown away, I was really impressed I bought it with a 7ft electric screen and ceiling mount which is their package deal.
Whilst I was there I spoke with a Infocus representative after I had purchased the IN80! He told me how puzzled he was about the IN80, 1) because how good the PJ was and 2) because of its price point. He ended up telling me how Infocus are not making a penny from the sales (Not sure how true that is, he followed on saying no one believes him - I was one of them.)
Anyway, I've planned to do my small modest install next weekend, I will post pictures of the result on here.
I say go demo and you may surprise yourself and buy one

re: Infocus IN80 Owners thread - Reviews, Settings, Screenshots and issues
I'm trying to find data on the projection calculations for the IN80. I keep being directed to this website:-
Projector Calculator InFocus Corporation
but for the life of me can't see the IN80 listed.
I have a room which is 5metre depth, I want to ceiling mount the projector. I'm trying to find what what size screen is needed if I mount it say 4m from the screen. Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Graham, For some strange reason Infocus has not offcially listed the IN80 on their site. The IN80 is also sold differently.
But you can use the Projection calculator using X10,IN81,IN82 or IN83 and the results will be same as IN80. I have verified this already.
The X10 and all IN8X range uses the same lens and throw. So just use the calculator taking one of the above mentioned ones.

Dear ANIBAP
Many thanks for your informative and prompt reply - it is much appreciated!
If I may pick your and other contributors brains, what type of projection screens are recommended? I wanted a screen that is electrically dropped down from the ceiling to placate "Her indoors"!
Many thanks once again!

See the recommendation below from Art on the X10. Since you are looking at IN80 it should be the same as the difference is not much.
InFocus X10 1080p Home Theater Projector - General Performance
