Question Anyone Used A Video Sender With A Projector???

Hi all, I was wondering if it's possible to use a good quality video sender between my DVD player and my DLP projector to minimise the cabling between the two. In theory it sound like a great idea, no cables at all between the DVD and the projector, some senders use RGB scart connections which should be acceptable for picture quality, but I have no idea how the theory would work in practice. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Are you sure they use RGB scart???

I thought that video senders could only used composite. Are you sure it isn't just a scart adaptor???

I use a really old video sender (with composite leads) for the bedroom 14" TV, whilst the picture on the TV is fine, I wouldn't expect it to look good 7 feet wide.

My advice, buy some cables instead.

yeah, it definately says RGB Scart and specifies that the receiving monitor ( TV or whatever) should be SCART equipped. I probably will use cables, but it was a nice thought !!
Cheers

If it really is RGB then it might be worth a go.

Which video sender are you thinking of using????

I don't see any mention of RGB on that link, just that it can use a SCART connection. I think you'll find that it will only send a composite video signal.

I looked into this a short while ago, as I have a video sender that I use to transmit Sky+ to other TVs, and it can only send composite. My understanding is that there isn't the bandwidth to transmit a full RGB signal wirelessly, and that composite is as good as it gets.

Joffonon, this is incorrect. My mate tested a digisender with his projector - It definitely sends an RGB signal, 100% positive of this. Although he wasn't happy with the picture as it kept breaking up. This was transmitting within the same room about 2m away.

Microwave ovens emmit a 2.4GHz signal that can cause noise bars using my video sender.

Video Senders use the 2.4 GHz frequency as do DECT Phones.

check out this review:
http://www.homecinemachoice.com/cgi-...?reviewid=2934

Says here that it outputs RGB (I think!) As my projector and DVD player will still be in the same room, would the likelyhood of interference be reduced?

My brother uses one (in composite) and the picture is not very good. All of the ones I have though use 3 phono conenctionsm 2 of which are supposed to be for audio and 1 for composite video. I wonder if you could send the 3 channels of component video through these, and what the picture would be like?

I'm sorry, but the 2.4GHz band simply does not have the bandwidth to support transmission of RGB. The fact that he couldn't get a picture over a measly 2m proves this! And as for the digisender...

...the review is a bit vague on this point, but a quick Google finds this review, which states "Supports RGB input (composite video output)".
