Panasonic Pta e500 or Infocus X

Hi

it's me again after some more advice, I posted earlier about the panasonic pj, but after much research on the net, I keep seeing this Infocus X1 popping up.

I know it is quite a lot cheaper, but I have yet to see a bad review of it on the net.

Bearing in mind the cost doesnt particulary bother me, I just want the best for my money, which should choose?

I would compare Infocus 4805 and AE500 as the price point is closer and more of a comparison.

Personally I'd choose the AE500. Three reasons:

1. Resolution
2. Resolution
3. Resolution



Seriously, completely different PJs (LCD/DLP) at different price points. Not really a decision anyone can make bar you. Shouldn't be too difficult to get a demo of both.

Does anyone now the native output resolution of an xbox please ?

Is it the same for games and movies (dvds) ?

A vanilla flavoured Xbox outputs a Pal signal (720x576).

A modified Xbox can output both Pal & NTSC but more importantly, 480p/720p (progressive scan) & even 1080i (game dependent).

Kramer a vanilla Xbpx will output 480p also, only when using YPbPr connectio tho. cant get 576p tho?????

Personnaly I'd go for the X1 if I needed to save money, the 4805 if I didn't, for three reasons;

1. DLP
2. DLP
3. DLP

but then again I've decided that I'm LCD intolerant. Not sure the resolution is really a problem until the screen size increases beyond 7ft wide, based on what I've seen so far. Even then I'd sacrifice resolution for the better colourscape I've found inherent with DLP products.

LCD vs DLP, really a demo is advised as I said but DLP benefits (& detriments) aside, there's a big difference in resolution between the X1 & AE500 (16x9 mode).

Thanks for the info guys, one other thing which may be a problem is the shape of the room i'm putting it in, the problem being that I can only put the pj aboput 7ft maximum away from the screen, will this be a problem?

7ft throw distance for the X1 will give you an image 43" x 26" maximum, for the AE500, it will give you an image 61" x 34", acording to the throw distance calculators on projectorcentral .com (which is not always 100% accurate...)

IMO a 5 ft wide image might be sufficient if the room is quite small, but I couldn't see the point of a projector showing an image the same size as a plasma..... part of the impact of front projection for me is seeing an image of an appropriate scale to reproduce the "cinema" experience - although I realise that this is not the same for everyone......
