DIY subwoofer - can anybody recommend a low pass crossover?

Hi all, newbie here

I'm in the process of building a custom subwoofer, but I'm a bit confused about where to get the crossover and what I should be paying for it etc.

eBay and google turn up lots, but can anybody tell me a reasonable price I should expect to pay or recommend any brands or ranges suitable for a budget build?

The system I'm building will be pushing out about 150W, I am using old kit without a built in output for the sub, I'm after a cutoff at between 80Hz and 100Hz.

If theres any info missing, let me know. Thanks for reading

Wilmslow audio would be a good place to start.

Re: DIY subwoofer - can anybody recommend a low pass crossover?

Thanks, I did have a quick look but some of the items are way out of my price range (me being a lowly student).

I've found some crossovers on a different site that are rated at 300W RMS, 8 Ohms. The impedance of the driver itself is 4 Ohms (its a car audio device I scrounged off someone, hence the budget project idea), does the crossover impedance need to be matched with the driver impedance, or is the crossover impedance to do with the maximum resistance of the driver you can have connected to it?

Cheers

Might be worth asking this guy on hifiwigwam if he still has his crossover available, he still did at the end of last month . It would be a bargain at £20. It is no longer available form BK electronics.

That's an excellent find.

Having bank account problems at the moment but they should be rectified within the next few days, so I will get in touch with this chap and see if he still has it. Thanks again!
