Question DIY M&K MX350 - Value???

Hi,
I made my own DIY MX350 sub some time back,
and I'm not using it at the moment, What sort of value would it be worth?
(I'm just thinking I might be needing to raise some cash in the wake of Xmas).

Just looking for a sort of ball park value at the moment - to see if it would be worth considering parting with (and sticking in the sales section).

It's basically the same arrangement/size as the M&K original but with more bracing (stiffer cabinet), Mahogany Veneered front and sides, seperate 400w amp and Sub bass filter (both courtesy of www.bkelec.com).
Any ideas/views?.

Paul.

Re: DIY M&K MX350 - Value???

Honestly, I'd expect it to be worth 50-75% of the drivers and plate amps original purchase price. The DIY cabinet has, unfortunately, little worth to anybody that hasn't heard it and figured it to of worth to their circumstances.

Unless you can point to a test in which it's been featured to help with it's perceived value, that's about it I'm afraid.

Re: DIY M&K MX350 - Value???

Hi,
Thanks for the replies,
50%-75% would give a rough value about £275-£412.
It might still be worth thinking about selling it,
(Would certainly be stonking performance for that price).

And, hopefully!, here's a couple of pictures of the sub,
(Thanks for the interest).

Paul.

Re: DIY M&K MX350 - Value???

Last DIY sub I recall being sold here was one of the REL clones several of us made a while back. I think it sold for more or less 50% of the new cost of the plate and driver, which would fit in with recruit's suggested "pricing model"

Nice looking sub by the way

Dave

Hi,
50% would sound about right for the old REL clone,
The problem with the Rel clone being that original Rel's can be picked up for very little money themselves,
(thus driving down the price of any clone).

If it was a good clone of the more expensive stadium, stentor or studio - I would expect the percentage would've been rather different, more like the 75% quoted by russ.will (or maybe even more!).

Glad you like the look of the sub

Paul.

Re: DIY M&K MX350 - Value???

I'd certainly put yours up at the higher end price first, after all you can always reduce the price if it doesn't sell...

I'd put it up for at least £400 to start with

Dave
