Re: My First DIY Sub

looks great, is almost a diy bk xls200
i also use the same dt150 subamp in combination with a Vifa 25 cm woofer, the same type used in the Rel strata III
the bassboost works great, and the subwoofer is in the same leak as the MJ Acoustics ref 1 mk1 which i also own

c3ham

If you are running XP there is a "Resize" option for images. It's a free MS download if you don't have it already.

Even hosting your images on one of the image hosting services can mean slow downloads if they are as large as these.

Great pictures BTW and nice sub.

Have I missed something? Last thing I remember you were posting results from your "crapdenonsub". What's the driver/amp etc. Extension looks good, if it's unequalised, but what sort of SPLs can it handle at what frequencies. Either way, top work!<insert smilie showing due respect>

Re: My First DIY Sub

Nice Job mate.

Seeing this reminded me of the sub I built a couple of years back. I have dug out a few of the build pix of my Dual XLS 12" Peerless Sub with 12" Passive Radiator - finished with Fablon Mahogany Laminate. Top is Smoked Glass, and covered on 3 sides with speaker fabric held by pop on off clips on a mdf frame. Needless to say I think it sounds great. Using a sine wave test frequency disc I have - it will rattle anything in the house without a problem..... I found it cheaper to import parts from USA and pay duty. I think the complete cost was around £350.

Credit to where it is really due to - http://www.geocities.com/adrian_mack/homepage.html is where the basic build design came from.

yeah just thought i would try and build something better the amp is a detonation DT150 and the driver is a 10" peerless xxls 4ohms 18l sealed box and its unequalised the predicted SPL from winisd.

Re: My First DIY Sub

the shiva woofer is exit
I still have a 10 inch Volt woofer , the same used as in the rel Stadium II
and it is in a 45 ltr reflex loaded box, the amp is a thommessen 210 watt subamp with the bass boost set at +3db at 25 hz, it plays loader than the
rel stadium II and does a great job on the LFE signal
I am planning to copy the cabinet off the stadiumII which uses arm loading and a 65 ltr cabinet

Re: My First DIY Sub

C3ham,

Come on then! Let's see some in room FR curves. It's certainly a looker, but how does it perform. Close that door to the room behind, that's going to give you a big suck-out that is!

Nice to see someone running with the DIY batton, by the way and top carpenty, if I may be so bold.

Strange, those links don't show up in your post in my browser, they only appear in this reply box for me and even with the URL's I can't get to the pictures .

Dave

Edit: I can't see them in the quote above now it's on the forum, only while I have the text box open...
