Please help me calibrate my sub

Hi guys,

I thought I would start a new thread on this subject because not only will it help me get to the bottom of my issues it will help anyone else who is going to go down the diy route. I have read the REW online help tonight and watched the you tube videos and it kinda has sunk in more.

I used my black lead which has a 3.5mm jack on each end to do my sound card cal and it seemed to work fine. I have attached the pic to show the lead I am using and the soundcard graph. It will be good to get your thoughts on this first.

cheers
Graham

Re: Please help me calibrate my sub

I also have two of these leads which I will use to connect one to the spl meter and the other to the av amp. 3.5mm jack end goes into the line in and line out. The one I have put into the line out I will put the red rca right output into the spl meter and the other one that goes into the line out, I will put the red rca right output into the red input on the av amp.

pic attached to show the lead.

Am I on the right track so far.

cheers

Re: Please help me calibrate my sub

Thanks for starting this new thread Graham. I hope we can all draw a line in the sand and move on.

Can you remind us what sound card you have Graham? To my acute embarrassment I have never got REW to run on any of our computers.

Dave

Trying to work out how you have this connected with all of the line in a line outs mentioned in your paragraph.

The line IN should be what connects to your SPL meter (to record the output) and the line OUT should be connected to the amp so the sounds can be send out from your computer/REW.

By the way Turtle beach have always been renowned for great quality PC sound cards.

Re: Please help me calibrate my sub

hoppaz,
Yes that is how I have connected it. Just out of interest I am wondering if I might have been using the left output in REW to check levels. I take I am supposed to use the right channel and will using the left channel give me low levels.

cheers

Re: Please help me calibrate my sub

Graham, mate,

I have already told you how to connect up the SPL,REW and the amp. REW will only measure your sub. For actual calibration you need some eq device or other, so you need the BFD, or perhaps something like the Reckhorn B-2.

Are you still having problems with getting REW to function?

Re: Please help me calibrate my sub

Dont forget to post a waterfall as well, it helps give us an idea of how much your room is ringing, which might shed some light on the issue your having with sub distance and Audyssey.
