Blu Ray Movies with best Picture Quality

Hello there,

I was just wondering, in your knowledgable opinions, which blu ray movies have the best PQ?

Your top three maybe, which have truly blown you away.

Re: Blu Ray Movies with best Picture Quality

From those I own the best overall is Crank;

http://www.amazon.de/Crank-Extended-...4370360&sr=1-1

Best for restoration of an older movie is Bladerunner 5 disc;

http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/pro...ducts_id=37451

A notable mention goes to 300 which reproduces exactly what I saw in the cinema, so personally I love it. It's a very stylised film though so some others don't like the look of it in HD.

(With such a faithful reproduction these same people wouldn't have liked the look of it in the cinema either though).

Good thread by the way, I hope it becomes popular.

I have a similar one running for Sky HD.

Films with great Picture Quality on Sky HD

Interesting list that though.

Based upon it they agree Crank is a "reference quality title with the cleanest and sharpest image available".

Both Bladerunner and 300 are "Demo material".

Re: Blu Ray Movies with best Picture Quality

I'd consider Black Hawk Down and Casino Royale to be 2 demo quality transfers too.

Not Blu, but the HD-DVD of Zodiac is flat out the best transfer I've ever seen though. Absolutely stunning detail levels.

Do you know if the menus and features are in German or is it pretty much English?

Just got my copy of Crank through amazon.de.......what a PQ. So much detail its insane. But I find it odd that the R2 version uses VC1 instead of MPEG2 which the US version utilize. Anyway the menus are all in German, so is all the trailers. Havent checked the * **** you * disc yet which houses all the special features.

Re: Blu Ray Movies with best Picture Quality

My copy of Dead Man's Chest arrived yesterday so I had a quick flick through some of the key scenes and have to say it was absolutely jaw dropping PQ.
