Question is the blu-ray version of the GoodFellas an improvement over the SD-dvd?

Hi,
Thinking about buying the blu-ray version of goodfellas. I already have the sd-dvd version of the film. Does the blu-ray version of the film have any improvment over the sd-dvd version?

It is definitely an improvement, especially with close ups - I would also say that it is not easy to see the improvement on 32" screens and below, however the improvement is there and is still worth a purchase.

I had Goodfellas on HD-DVD. Was definitely an improvement, so I'm now awaiting delivery of the Blu version.

Plus it's a classic, so it has to be purchased.

Decent but not a big improvement. Don't worry Warner will be double dipping Goodfellas and Departed on the third or fourth quarter of 2008.

It doesn't say that they will be revisiting the master in that link though, but I hope they do.

All this "double dipping" annoys me, as they should be investing to get it right first time.

With one favourite of mine "Full Metal Jacket" apparently the first issuance on Blu-Ray was awful. Same with "Fifth Element".

When debating re-buying a movie on Blu when you already have the DVD, you want to be certain the studio have issued the best disc possible.

You are right but there has been lots of bit*ing and moaning about the PQ of Goodfellas. I am confident that Warner will re-master Goodfellas and give it superior treatment like they did for Blade Runner.
