Grindhouse movies are being released in Germany within a few weeks. Check out amazon.de! They may become available on the movietyme site aswell?

GOOD LIST!

LA Confidential has definitely been mentioned previously in a presentation by the studio/BDA, so consider that to be an officially sanctioned rumour.

I'm a little sceptical. That release date is a week on Monday and there's no sign of it at Amazon, who usually have things up pretty quickly.

Re: Any facts/gossip on the following releases on blu-ray?

I really don't see the point in releasing either of the Grindhouse movies on Blu-ray for two very good reasons:

1. Scratched, fuzzy, faded picture in 1080p. Pointless.

2. They were both absolute garbage. Quentin Tarantino in particular seems to think that whatever tripe he puts on screen these days, his fans will lap it up. Well, it bombed for a very good reason. It missed the point by a very large margin. If you have to make an "homage" to the grimy exploitation filcks of the late seventies/early eighties, do it on a grindhouse budget. Make it for pennies and you might see a return from the niche market it was so obviously only going to attract. Do NOT spend $53 million on them and expect to be a huge hit. Lucio Fulci could have made at least 40 films on that budget back in the day. And they would have been real grindhouse cinema.

In short, a pointless exercise by two egotistical, self absorbed filmmakers that have lost touch with their core audience.

Can I have Zombie Flesh Eaters on Blu-ray instead please. Pretty please.

Your wish may be granted sooner than you think.

Blue Underground are ready to join the HD revolution.

I believe they have the rights to the Fulci titles.

My guess is that 'The Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue' may be among the first, as their new release is from a new HD master.

The second point is a matter of opinion.

Some people liked the film(s), others didn't. If you don't like 'em, don't buy 'em. But if every film you (or any individual) didn't like was stopped from being on BD just because of your (or their) tastes, it'd be a sorry world.

You're entitled to your opinion on the films' merits, but you not liking a film is no reason for it not to be released.

As for point 1, the films were shot then deliberately (and artificially) roughed up. The individual releases may well be the 'un-roughed' versions. Whilst not looking as good as other films in high def, they'll certainly benefit from it.

Not only have BU released Zombi (a.k.a. Zombie Flesh Eaters) in 2004, they struck a new 1080p high def master at the time.

Yes, you're correct. It is a matter of opinion and I was expressing mine. Thought that was allowed on these forums.

If you're right about both films being released on BD in there 'un-roughed' up versions that just makes the whole sorry exercise even more pointless. I would imagine they would be best viewed on VHS if you really want the 'Grindhouse' effect. Can you imagine Last House On The Left being released on BD? Again, pointless.

Recently, I have been considering watching Death Proof again, I didn't like the second movie.

Your opinion that it's a poor film, yes.

Your opinion that any film you don't like shouldn't get a high def release...well, it's not an attitude that'll win you a lot of friends.

Viva le difference, mon ami!

Fair point mate. I just don't think fans of the films will benefit from a Blu-ray transfer.
