Worst ever DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Poster/Cover Art?

My vote goes to...Blade Runner 5-Disc Complete Collector's Edition (HD-DVD)

Who exactly is that supposed to be? Someone from the film?

And why have you empoyed an artist who has learnt to draw noses or eyes yet?

Yeah, that's only the classic BR poster art by John Alvin (who sadly passed away in February). Pfft.

The US release of Silent Hill on Blu-Ray. Really bad and not in keeping with the feel of either the film or the series. The only release of this film (including SD) I've ever seen with a decent cover is the German HD-DVD release, which uses the excellent original poster art.

Bourne Ultimatum on HD DVD/ DVD.

Cover art makes it look like a tie in to XXX

Well, I was unaware of this and it does render the timing of my comment somewhat insensitive.

Also, I should retract my remark about not being able to draw as, having googled the matter, it is clear John Alvin produced some fine work. The Blade Runner poster, which is truly dreadful IMHO, is not amongst it though.

Re: Worst ever DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Poster/Cover Art?

80% of the U.S cover arts look pathetic. The U.K, Japan and AUS cover arts are mostly good looking with few exceptions.

For a change let's have a look at some excellent cover arts.

The best.

The Lethal Weapon DVD has bad cover art. I hate the silver edges mostly, and bad font.

Bad font? That's the 'Lethal Weapon' font they used for all four films though isn't it? I agree with the rubbish silver border though.

Anything with Tom Cruise's big head on it !
Why does every Tom Cruise film have to have his big head on the box ?

Agreed!

So plain and boring, something better should of been made to reflect how awesome the film is.

Re: Worst ever DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Poster/Cover Art?

the us cover for "the brave one" it looks like a photo of jodie forster with someone elses arm pointing a gun towards the viewer (reminiscent of the mid 90's thai bootlegs where no matter what the film was they would photoshop a gun in somewhere! sense and sensibility with uzi's anyone)
eiv's covers are still a bit shonky at least they have toned down the excessive quotes from the tabloids

the uk cover is so much better, which is rare

Re: Worst ever DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Poster/Cover Art?

Not only is the Transformers cover art ugly but the plastic slipcase makes it feel tacky as well. That was the most expensive HD DVD I bought and yet the packaging made it look like the cheapest.

The Bourne covers really annoy me, not because they're bad but because they're so inconsistant, the first two US HD DVDs have custom art but they stick the poster on Ultimatum. Over here, they use coverart for the first two, then custom on Ultimatum. And it's even worse with the spines.
