Smallville Season 6 HD-DVD

Huge fan of this show, despite it's often annoying filler episdoes. Not seen any of Season 6 yet and heard some great things.

Seen Movietyme are selling the HD-DVD set for only £32.99, which I think is a cracking price.

Just wondered in anybody is going for this too & if anybody has any idea if it will ship before its 18th of sep street date??

Re: Smallville Season 6 HD-DVD

I'm waiting for the first two seasons Can't see why they'd release the latter seasons first, makes no sense to me. The show was in it's prime for the first few seasons too. Avoiding it until Season 1 arrives.

Re: Smallville Season 6 HD-DVD

It can only be on HD-DVD if it was shot on HD or if it was mastered in film.

i dont think the first few seasons were either

I've always considered Season 3 to be the best.

Though season 5 really began to develop the Superman mythology, the fortress, Brainiac etc.

From what I've gathered Season 6 takes this even further

Re: Smallville Season 6 HD-DVD

I have season 5 in HD and it looks stunning. I have preordered Season 6 along with Heroes as a package from amazon for a pretty good price.

Can anyone confirm this? If so are there any plans for season 3 onwards coming out on HD DVD?

Cheers
Bri

Not sure!
I think a film which has not been shot in HD can be remastered to high definition.....or am i wrong?

If the show was shot on 35mm film then that can produce a native HD master but the problem is that the sets, costumes, makeup etc have to be upto movie quality standard and all the visual effects/cgi have to be redone in HD if the original computer work was only done for SD.

According to IMDB from the second season onwards HD masters exist with only the first season being restricted to a NTSC widescreen master.

Re: Smallville Season 6 HD-DVD

Hi
Just picked this one up!
Nice transfer, plenty of pop and the DD+ audio is a nice upgrade from the standard sets.
Yep......not bad at all.

Re: Smallville Season 6 HD-DVD

It's a good HD DVD boxset but Heroes has set the standard and so Smallville S6 falls short and what's with no commentaries
