Best Bluray Movies

My first post on here.....

We're soon to take delivery of a shiny new Panasonic PZ700 50 inch 1080p plasma and we went for a PS3 to deliver 1080 images. Sky HD to follow in a couple of weeks.

I've been reading posts about POTC and such like and am worried that on the big day I won't get that wow feeling when the installer turns it on.

So to get to the point......

What are the best Bluray movies I can get my hands on to convince she who must be obeyed that I haven't wasted a big pile of our hard earned?

Casino Royale, The Warriors, 300 (just so you know, it's grainy on purpose), Superman, First Blood. Starship Troopers is a bit patchy but when it isn't it's a great big screen experience.

Just got The Descent and it looks pretty good. UK version of Hostel has a good picture too.

Moving to the movies forum as it's more relevant there.

Dave.

The PQ on Casino Royale is so good it will give your eyes an orgasm...

POTC 1 & 2 were both pretty good too...

Re: Best Bluray Movies

If you are looking for PQ alone then Crank is one of the best (although the film is stupi beyond belief) good audio as well.

Kingdom of Heaven has been mentioned so I'd also say that Deja Vu also has fantastic picture and audio quality.

Re: Best Bluray Movies

Only had the PS3 a few days but "Casino Royale" looks absolutely superb on it.
Have also watched "The Last Samuari" which wasn't bad at all, and sat through "Behind Enemy Lines" last night...good PQ but the film itself was a little disappointing.
Have just taken delivery of "Pirates of the Caribbean" which is supposed to be very good on Blu-Ray.
Although we've seen the film a few times, we're looking forward to watching it again tonight in all it's HD glory.

Sorry to go off at a tangent, but I watched this on BD last night. Cracking film, but has anybody else noticed the terrible continuity errors evident when Bruce Willis is talking to his Commanding officer, who is on board the aircraft carrier at the time with planes taking off and landing?
Forward the film to that chapter, and check how many times his watch shows different times ranging from 3.15 to 4.30 (I think) and then back again!
It's only because the PQ is so good that I noticed it this time around

What about the fact that planes are taking off and landing whilst he's talking. Do you think anyone would have heard him talking. Surely he'd be needing ear defenders and not a phone!!

I can barely hear myself think when a diesel train pulls away from me at the train station let alone an extremely loud fighter jet.
