Been buying discs in Orlando recently??

Was wondering if anyone had been buying HD DVD and BR DVD's recently in Orlando, and wondering if anywhere had offers on, or what they thought of the prices etc?

Am going in about 4 weeks time, and am gonig to trawl the best places I know for price / selection, including:
Best Buy
Walmart
Target

The Virgin Megastore at Downtown Disney had a good selection but steep prices.

Is it worth buying in Orlando when you take into account sales tax etc, or is it about the same cost as buying via Movietyme etc. here??

Re: Been buying discs in Orlando recently??

I'm going to Orlando in about 3 weeks and will be hitting Target and Wal-Mart too. Goin to get a PS3 too.

I had a quick look at Wal-Mart prices and using the current $ rate its much cheaper to buy instore than mail order from Movetyme and pals - just cos they pay all the fees and have to pay for delivery over to here - not that they're just hacking up the price.

how on earth did you get the ps3 back? Let alone a 360 aswell.

The PS3 is quite big and bloody heavy! I considered doing the same in feb but it just seemed too heavy and bulky.

You're lucky you didn't get caught with import tax at customs

Re: Been buying discs in Orlando recently??

Well thanks to all who replied, looks like local shopping it will be

Graham - am working in Leeds at the moment, small world ........
Sem1604 - going Sept 27th, flying with TravelCityDirect - might see you at Customs

For the ones who have been, I was thinking of the big 24 hour Walmart on the 192, and a bit further along from there a newish Target. Was there in November and both places had small selection of both HD DVD and BR titles - have things got better now? Also, that huge Target was deserted when I was in there, but the Walmart was very busy.

Also, no one mentioned Best Buy on Orangle Blossom Trail - best selection I found last November, not as good prices as Walmart / Target, but better than Virgin Megastore.

Now then, must go and hunt a release schedule for discs, PS3 games and see what films are due at the cinema while am there ..........

Re: Been buying discs in Orlando recently??

I picked up S1 of Heroes on HD DVD for $79.99 in FYE (For your Entertainment) at the Florida Mall-it was $99.99 at the Virgin Megastore at Downtown Disney (and I had it in my hand at one point to buy).

Glad I didn't and got it at FYE.

I'm in Huddy, which is near Leeds...

...but nowhere near Orlando.

Re: Been buying discs in Orlando recently??

Hi Tivo - just in case you have a uk ps3, may be worth taking a print out of the movies that work over here with you (Movietymes list is pretty useful) - I'm off to Orlando with the family but not until Oct 12 - so try not to buy up all the bargains before I get there

Re: Been buying discs in Orlando recently??

Bertha - thanks but have a US PS3, got via a relative on a US trip earlier in the year.

Movietyme are my main source of games for it, and to be honest my HD DVD / BR discs too.

Will try and leave SOME things in the shops
