Polar Express for Blu-ray this October.

Warner Home Video has announced that the CGI animated film 'The Polar Express' will be released for Blu-ray on October 30th. The film will come on a BD-25 with 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 video and a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. This film was previously released on HD DVD, and is one of the "make-up" titles which Warner promised to release before the end of the year.

Now wheres Batman Begins...?

Re: Polar Express for Blu-ray this October.

To bad Warner did not take advantage of this release to include Dolby TruHD or PCM.

Let's hope other forthcoming titles will be more blessed in the audio department.

it would be interesting to know the differences between the two versions...isnt the hd dvd version dd+ rather than just dd.

and also will the blu-ray version be playable on a uk ps3?

The HD DVD version is DD+ encoded at 640 kbps, just like the Blu-ray version will be. The Blu-ray version will play on your PS3 because all Warner titles are region-free.

Re: Polar Express for Blu-ray this October.

For anyone who is interested in the blu-ray version..i have this in my possession now..and it does play pefectectly on a uk ps3 as it is region free as already stated...

The dolby d bitstream output is 640 kbpm..same as the hd dvd version (which says dd+) and i think all the extras are the same as well...i paid £11.99 from movie tyme..which was a pound cheaper than the hd dvd version (on there website!)
