HD-DVD/Blu-Ray movies - so how good are they guys?

I've noticed from the DVD sales forum that a fair few members here have now dipped into the next gen formats, but i've not seen all that much written about them..

to those of you who've got them or watched them, what are your thoughts? Are you impressed? Are they a big step up from DVD's upscaled to Hi-Def?

Also, what are the new formats DTS-HD and Dolby Digital Plus like? Do they work properly on a regular AV Receiver or is that yet another thing that needs upgrading?
