Digital TV and Radio microphones

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, but it was the most appropriate I could find.

I have been asked to purchase a good quality radio microphone for our local church but during my research I came across an item in the Sennheiser site about digital TV and radio microphone frequencies. I found it a bit heavy going but what I gather is that they will share the same frequencies, with microphones being secondary users - i.e. they can use the frequency as long as it doesn't cause any interference to TV. Conversely I presume that a strong digital TV signal could stop the microphone working. I don't want to spend a largish sum of church money on something that might not work when our local transmitter (about 1/2 a mile away and low powered) goes digital.

Does anyone know anything about this? How likely a problem is it?

Re: Digital TV and Radio microphones

looking at Sennheiser Worldwide: Microphones, Headphones and Wireless Systems the lower frequencies 175 Mhz are well below TV IIRC which starts at 470 MHz and goes to 860 MHz its the mic in those bands which may have issues not sure if anything else shares the 175 MHz end of the spectrum

Re: Digital TV and Radio microphones

We use Sennheiser's at our Church without any problem and we are also on a small local transmitter.

The power from both radio mic's and tv transmitters are very low power so there should not be a significant problem.

Also the Senn's are very frequency agile so if you do have a problem then you can just move them somewhere else.

Which reminds me, I need to get replacement headphone for our mixing desk and so out the projector wiring, which bugs me every Sunday!
