very very confused

Apologies if this has been asked before, ive searched the first 2 pages but see nothing.

I have a samsung hdtv CRT with hdmi
I live in Lancashire and the digital switchover has left me without BBC2

Do i need to buy a freeview box or should it tune in automatically?
I thought my TV was digital with it having HDMI? ? ?

Thanks for your help

I'm pretty sure the Sammy HD CRT's ceased production before incorporating DTT tuners was common practice but if you have undergone DSO and you are getting all the other DTT channels with the exception of BBC2 then it must have a DTT tuner, maybe not one working correctly or an issue with the aerial and transmitter choice.

Samsung WS32Z409TQX - 32" Widescreen HD Ready -Slimfit CRT TV

I think BBC2 is the only channel that analogue has been turned off

If that is the case, do i just need to buy a digital box?

The tuner is analogue (a sister model, the 419D, comes with a digital tuner for Freeview reception).

So the answer is a cheap Freeview box connected via a scart lead or an expensive new TV.

Or wait a short while and get a DVB-T2 box with HDMI that will receive both SD and HD Freeview which will be available very soon.

Sensible option - to bridge the gap get a supercheap Set Top Box, they can be had for 9.99 in tesco/asda

Just for good forum etiquette, i thought i would post the solution I used

I ended up buying a cheap tesco box, however hated the menu system so much i sent it back

bought a slightly dearer Philips box which works well and has a much faster menu system

thanks again
