2 freeview boxes. 1 re-tuned, 1 didn't.

I have two televisions and two freeview set top boxes. After the analogue switchoff from Winter Hill of BBC2 earlier today, one of the freeview boxes re-tuned perfectly and the other failed and now the channels only start at channel 3. They both come from the same aeriel. The only thing I can think of is that the box that failed is probably too old. Has anyone got a view on this, please.

If you haven't already done so, try retuning again.

Re: 2 freeview boxes. 1 re-tuned, 1 didn't.

I had the same problem... posted this in another thread,

To get back missing channels (BBC1,BBC2,BBC3,CBBC,BBCNews,BBCRedbutton) I had to do a manual scan on my Sony IDTV and select them from channel/band/frequency 62

Hope this helps

I have two gdb3 goodmans freeview boxes. One of them rescans ok and picks up BBC1, BBC2 etc and the other does not. I have done manual scans on CH62. The one that will not receive BBC1 does not show any signal strength whereas the other shows 60% strength. The boxes are Vestel based. Has anyone any ideas. I get my signal from Pendle Forest (winter hill).

It's most likely the box is incompatible with the switch to 8K mode for mux 1

Try resetting the box back to factory default settings. I have a Humax 9200T and after a retune picked up the BBC channels but in the wrong position so I reset the unit, retuned again and all was OK.

Thankyou for all your suggestions. Have tried re-tuning several times but no luck so far. Cannot re-tune manually, have no Ch.62. Rang 08456 505050 as given on television. They gave me the number of Pioneer, who are the makers of my set top box and they couldn't understand why it hadn't worked, so no further forward.

Try swapping the aerial inputs to rule out a faulty plug or coax lead

Re: 2 freeview boxes. 1 re-tuned, 1 didn't.

Over the past three days I have tuned and retuned 3 digiboxes and two freeview televisions.
The number of channels received on the five different systems vary - but an improvement in numbers of channels I receive has improved and increased on a daily basis.

I presume engineers are working on the process - no doubt after the December switch off is implementd a complete retune will be necessary and hopefully all the variations will be resolved .

Thanks everyone, we have success. Bought a new digital box. Now we have all channels, plus lots more.

Re: 2 freeview boxes. 1 re-tuned, 1 didn't.

The only Freeview product available to the public that retunes automatically is made by TVonics, its the MDR240 available in comet, John Lewis, and TVonics Store - Tvonics - Freeview Digital Tv.

It also allows you to select the transmitter group you want.
