Thanks: Gave 0, Got 0 | samsung LE32R74 now dead after 30th sept :(
hi guys.
i have the above model tv and have had no problems for the past 3 years ive had it, i got the usual message pop up in the run up to the 30th september when using the biult in freeview and followed the demo video but it wasnt much help, however it kept saying re tune on the 30th OR ANYTIME AFTER so i thought i will have a better look this weekend.
however on the 30th around 11pm i could only get itv1 and it wouldnt let me do anything, change channel, digital setup, settings etc then the picture just froze!
I can now only get channels 1-4 by using non digital setting on my tv but the biult in freeview seems to have totally died, i cant do anything with it so retuning it is out the window the only bettons that work wen in dtv mode is on/off and the volume
any help i will be very greatful for guys |

Check out the manual and see if there is an option to reset to factory defaults and then you can start from scratch. Simply rescanning the spectrum be it manually or on auto should not any major issues.

No problems here, I retuned our LE32R41 which was one of the first LCD screens, for a 74 series should not have failed.
Have you had a new aerial installed for Freeview or are you using the original one. It could be that everything has moved and you have an old 'grouped' aerial and now everything is out of the frequency range for that aerial.
Just a thought.

Hi
Ive the very same problem! I have a 52" Samsung 7 series with the tuner built in and every digital channel breaks up and sometimes i get no signal. The arial is brand new and is for recieving digital channels. I had it installed in my attic and its been working fine until up to the running of 30th sept I retuned it as requested and now its as i said nothing at all execpt pixulation and break up. The arial is pointing in the same place and weather cant effect it. Ive now tried to move it slightly but nothing changes so i put it back to where it was pointed. I would like to know what has done this as my set top box in my bedroom runs ok. There is a 3 way splitter in the attic running a cable for the bedroom and another for the frontroom.
All i have now is bad reception Analogue. I have checked all cables and there fine and tight. I dont know what to do know prior to paying for a tv guy to come out and look into it. But its suppose to be freeview and a straight forward switchover. No tv ........ahhhhhh ive already got four kids !!!!! help

The Auto-tune feature of my Samsung left me with missing channels after Oct 1st, and subsequent auto-tune's meant some channels would appear & others disappeared. I have now manually tuned the TV and have more channels than before the re-tune.
Although time consuming, the manual tuning method is probably the best route to take for all makes of Freeview TVs. note that you may have to scan a single frequency 4 or 5 times before you see any channels popping up - this is usually down to atmospheric conditions &\or the signal strength peaking\troughing during the scan! once you find channels on a frequency, save them & move on to the next one.
IIRC my Freeview channels (113 incl. Radio streams) are all between Channel 22(482000KHz) & 39(618000KHz) @8MHz, but there's nothing stopping you from scanning other frequencies.
HTH.

Stockyville its a 3 way amplified splitter. My mate the Virgin guy came by to have a look and says i am loosing 10db from the splitter to my tv it could be the cable which he left a drum for me to replace it myself. He changed the connector at the end of the cable and ive got a couple of channels back like DTV3 to 6 and others and the break up is less (but still there) so hopefully if i replace and run the cable off the splitter outside and down the wall and into the living room and connect up then i should be ok i hope! But if all else fails i will retune it manually as mentioned and not rely on autotune as i always do.
thanks guys for the replys

when you change back to d.tv and it shows the digital station, if it's just frozen there (or a blank screen) and some bars are showing that dont go away then try to go into the digital menu.
If you cant get into the digital menu to do a reset then the digital side of the television is frozen (this is quite common on the samsungs and I was able to reproduce it in the TV shops :P)..
You will need to enter setup (been a while but it's something like this..)
tv off (in standby) press mute, 1, 8, 2, power(on the remote) and when it starts you SHOULD see a setup menu (samsung says this menu does not exist). Scroll up and down to get to the section that says reset. If you then press rightward on the nav section of the remote it will do a factory reset..
My le40r74bd froze up a few times inthe past and I have had to reset it, I called samsung several times to complain that they should put out a firmware update because the price the quoted me to reset it was something daft like 300 quid!!..
Does your TV suffer from bad sound, and also cut itself off sometimes?..
I had to replace some caps on the power board as they were all leaking ;(.. and the speakers look like they were not put together properly, the coil assembly sticks above the cone :/...

sorry about the late reply guys also having laptops problems
i have checked all the leads and they are all ok howver i removed the power lead and plugged it back in and dtv mode is working!! but only just.....
i have dtv picture but its stuck on itv1 and now its saying the sound is in mono as opposed to stereo. when you change channels on dtv mode on this samsung the channel appears in the top hand corner and mono or stereo in the bottom left, now these normally go away after a few secs but they are now just stuck there. im in exactly the same position as before where i cant use ANY functions in dtv mode exepect the volume and on/off button. the only progress i have made since my original post is that i now do have picture in dtv mode but its locked on itv1..
just so you understand how bad it is dancing on ice is currently on itv1 |

I told you how to get into the menu to do a reset :/....
Did you not try what I suggested?
And I am glad someone posted a "shorter" way of getting into the service menu on this model of TV, there are several menu/setting changes that can be done so be careful typing in stuff (even if the tv is off)
