Sony KD-32DX200V

I have the above set which is a few years old now, but it has Freeview built in. With the recent re-tune, I left it until today to do, but I find that from the "set up" screen I am unable to access the "Auto Tune" facility. Is this one of the sets that can't be retuned, or can I do a complete reset and start again? If I can how do I reset it? Thanks Bill W.

WE are in the same position - ours is an old shape Sony WEGA FReeview TV.

I pressed the MENU button but there was no option of Set up or settings or retune Digital .

When I tried the menu button on ANALOGUE there was a few options but that would be no use for Digital.

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

Guys -
I have the KD-32DX100, which I would imagine is fairly similar (I think it was the previous year to the '200).

I've successfully retuned Freeview using the following procedure:

1. When watching a Freeview channel, press the 'i+' button on the remote (NOT 'Menu').
2. A screen overlay showing details of the current programme appears. Press the Blue button on the remote ("Setup").
3. The "Digital Setup Screen" appears. Select "Auto Tuning" from the menu.
4. Press the Red key to start auto tuning.

That's it. Channel Five is now available on Freeview for me to ignore...

Not exactly intuitive, as you don't use the 'menu' button - but hopefully this is of use to others.

cheers
Chippy

ChippyAft,

Remote doesn't have the 'i+' button, must be a different remote. According to the Sony website it needs an 'upgrade', less hassle to just forget about Ch5 and watch the rest of them. Cheers Bill W.

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

you can always add a freeview set top box for ch5 etc , or get freesat from a sky dish instead , and get more channels as well

Going to go the digi-box route, far less hassle. Thanks for all the help. Bill W.

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

Small question - why couldn't you try a manual re-scan? If it's like my Sony KD-32DX150U this is a long winded pain but we are surely only talking about a few channels changing position principally C5, ITV2+1, ITV3 and ITV4. Re-scannning for those manually didn't take me more than a few minutes.

Ironically my Sony is actually on the list of those TVs 'needing' a software upgrade because the last version (v.4 I think) software apparently is the source of some problems. But I rarely use it for TV viewing so it was never upgraded in the normal way and I'd switched the update option off long ago. It's still on v.2 and whilst I did have some problems with it Autotuning last time I tried (detected 98 but none of the main BBC ones were stored for some reason) manual tuning and storing has and still does work fine for me.

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

Hi, new to AVForums and the reason I have joined is to share my frustrations with you!. About 5-6 years ago I bought a KD32DX150U assuming I was preparing for the future digital switchover. Didn't want separate boxes etc...much preferred everything in one.

No problems until last year noticed it wasn't autotuning properly. Didn't think much of it and wasn't desperate for Dave2 etc... so assumed it would sort itself out but deep down in my mind it was nagging me a little - well I had spent a lot of money on the tv with DVDplayer, VHS player and home theatre system. Anyway, some time earlier this year started to dig a little deeper into it and came across others with similar problem and the "Split NITs" explanation. Got onto Sony who couldn't help. Asked them why their customers were not alerted about this problem but they said it was up to the retailers. Told them that if we had been informed of the OADs then problem could have been fixed immediately. No sympathy and no plans to repeat OAD. They then referred me to local service centre. Emailed Sony but they didn't reply.

Local Service Centre (Ilford, Essex) wanted £40 plus for software upload - and wanted to keep it for up to 4 days - - and wanted me to be around to help them carry it into their van on collection and return!!! So I was being told I had to pay Sony or whoever to repair a problem I shouldn't have had and to take two days off work so that I could help carry the set to the repair van (service centre couldn't specify time of day they would be available!).

Contacted Sony again when Channel 5 went off last month but they still wouldn't / couldn't help. They told me even if I got the software upload the Channel 5 problem would be corrected but in 2012 the whole tv would stop working as it was not compatible with the digital switchover - something about it being a 2K model instead of an 8K one. I nearly blew my top so am now being forced to started thinking about buying a new tv even though I paid a lot of money 'back then' to avoid these problems. One thing I do know - it wont be a Sony!

Thanks for listening!

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

Like Numan on two counts: joined to comment and 2ndly I have KD32DX100 and also missed the ver 4 upg sent for the 'Spkit NIT' chg on terrestrial, no big shakes until last month. Won't bore on with details which similar to Numan (and others I fear). £80 to get TV monkey in to stick CAM module into back of TV and manually upg to ver 4 (SONY would not send me the card - hey ho). SONY have however, ask me to send the bill into them for reimbursement – still waiting but there is a postal dispute so will give them a bit longer…

Looking forward to Crystal Palace going full digital and 8K modulation to break the tuner altogether – just hope SED’s come out before then…

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

Hi, just as an update I have written to Sony quoting Sale of Goods Act and asking for refund. No reply yet (there's a surprise). Local Trading Standards are monitoring progress of my complaint. Will keep you posted.

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

Re accessing the greyed out retuning menu: on my KD-32DX150U I have to switch back to analogue first (using a button almost at the top left of the controller), then select the tuning menu and now the options are enabled. Sony instructions here: http://www.sony.co.uk/res/attachment...7476533726.pdf

Re not being able to access some channels now: why can't we update the software ourselves (like I can for a cheap stand alone digital box that I also have)?

I guess that that is a cheaper if lower quality solution: buy another separate digital box?

Re: Sony KD-32DX200V

Just a quick update, SONY were true to their word and fully reimbursed the £80.
