Question SKY+ outputs

My SKY+, rf output is fed via a splitter to other rooms. This gave me analogue signals to my old analogue tv's plus also the selected sky channel. Now I have got a digital tv I obtain my freeview channels OK but no longer get a sky channel on this split line.Is that because the SKY+ rf output is analogue and my digi tv can't see it ? Any solutions ? Thanks.

Re: SKY+ outputs

If the TV has a digital tuner only then you won't be able to tune into the analogue RF output of SKY+ and other devices. If it does have an analogue tuner then it may simply be a case of clashing frequencies or loose/shorting cabling.

Check the TV manual, it should clearly indicate the existence or lack of analogue tuner.

thanks Starbust, I wasn't to sure about sky rf output. It being analogue answered my problem.I searched my tv manual and found a digital and analogue inputs set up route and it added my sky output to the program list. Thanks a bundle, problem solved.

Question Re: SKY+ outputs

Starbust,If your still around I have one further small problem. One of my split outputs goes to an old TV for which I will obviously need a set top box.I have borrowed one to try and this gets all the digital channels but my Sky output is missing. Is that because I need a set top box with Digi and Analogue tuners ( Like my Digi TV obviously has it does get Digi channels and my Sky output )Is that the problem and are they around ? Thanks.

You won't find a STB with an analogue tuner. But presumably you have bought an STB because the "old" TV does not have a digital tuner in it - so presumably it has an analogue tuner in it. If it has an analogue tuner in it then it can be tuned to whatever analogue channel your Sky box is outputting on via RF - just the same as you have done with your digital TVs using their analogue tuners.

So - cable from RF2 on Sky box to splitter. RF cable from splitter to this new Freeview STB you have bought. RF cable from output of STB to analogue television set. Scart cable from STB to analogue television set.

Use scart when viewing Freeview. Use TV's own analogue tuner when watching Sky or analogue terrestrial television.

(and don't aim your questions at only one forum member in future - it can make people reluctant to help if you only ask one person for advice in the first place; whilst starburst is a very knowledgable member of this forum, there are many others who would have been able to help you with this query).
