Help with Digital Splitters

We recently upgraded to a digital aerial, The signal from the aerial comes down to the Living room, where its passed through the Sky and VCR before going back up to the loft to an (oldish) amplified splitter where it goes out to all the TV's in the house.

When routing the signal through the VCR and Sky and then splitting it off to the tv using an unamplified splitter we get a picture, but when sending it up to the Amplified splitter and then back down to the TV, there is no signal.

We also get no signal on another digital TV in the house.

What kind of splitter do we need to make this all work?

A sky box has two Rf outputs. RF1 out should go through the vcr to the local TV, and RF2 (which has DC power for magic eyes) should go up to the loft for distribution to the other tv's. Lack of a signal points to a bad connection likely on the uplead from rf2 out to the loft amplified splitter

Re: Help with Digital Splitters

If I did it in that order, there would be no sky on the VCR.

Could It be just as simple as we arent amplifying it enough? Its a pretty old amplifier and only does about 5.5dB, when I bypass the amplifier directly the signal strength goes down drastically.

Would getting a more powerful amplifier help?

Read the previous advice again. grahamlthompson said take the signal from the RF1 outlet of the Sky box to the VCR & TV (so there is Sky on the VCR); and from RF2 to the loft amplifier & other TVs.

Correct but it's a rubbish way to record from sky anyway. Why not use a direct scart connection from the sky box vcr scart to the vcr vcr scart ?

Re: Help with Digital Splitters

Sounds like a faulty amp if it works without the amp.

How many TV's does the amp feed?
