Using Digi-box to convert non-Digital DVD Recorder

We "switch over" here tomorrow. We currently have Sky on our lounge TV, along with a non-digital DVDR, which is still working fine so we can see no need to upgrade to a digital DVDR just for the sake of it. However, without any analogue, we will only be able to record the channel we are watching through sky. I assume we can attached a normal "cheapy" Freeview digi-box to the DVDR to enable it to record independently. If so, how can we connect it all up so we can watch a channel through Sky, whilst recording a channel through Freeview, and still have the DVDR connected to the TV so we can watch the playback from that when required, IYSWIM. I'm just thinking that if we connect everything in series via Scarts, the Sky box and the Digi-box being on at the same time will cause conflicts on the TV.

Hope you understand what I am getting at and look forward to any advice please.

Thank you

Re: Using Digi-box to convert non-Digital DVD Recorder

While you could daisy chain everything it would get a bit awkward to make sure the right box is being viewed on the TV.
If you don't have enough scart inputs on the TV then buy a scart splitter allowing multiple scart sources to connect either at the push of a button or auto switching to a single scart input on the TV.

I would highly recommend a twin tuner PVR, if you are a SKY subscriber already then SKY+ is fantastic and if not then a Freeview PVR may make the current SKY viewing redundant.
The fully integrated tuners, epg and recording are really a generation ahead in user friendliness and convenience over the twin box solution.
