No BBC after switchover?

Has anyone else experienced this today after kilvey hill switchover. I have retuned my nokia freeview box 3 times and BBC channels are nowhere to be found, have done channel search and channel add but still nothing unless there is a broadcast problem.

Yep ... BBC 1 & 2 scan in on rescan but nothing being transmitted.
Chn 5 does not even get picked up on scan at moment.
All others channels seem OK

Re: No BBC after switchover?

I remember reading a case on this ... if you are capable of receiving any air broadcast signals then you have to pay license fee.
A guy tried to prove that he only watched DVD & SKY and that was outside remit of TV license.

The TV license company have you cold unless you can prove that your TV has been permanently modified such that it cannot receive any over the air signals.

BTW .... all channels returned yesterday after a rescan in the evening.

Re: No BBC after switchover?

BBC can and is received over cable TV systems so a licence is still necessary.

Re: No BBC after switchover?

Whether or not you can receive BBC isn't AT ALL relevant. Whether you DO receive any broadcast television (any "channel") by any means is the determining factor. If yes, then a licence is a legal requirement.

Re: No BBC after switchover?

Hi,

I have a Humax PVR 9200T, apparently according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeview_(UK):
8k mode switch

Other boxes have been obsoleted by the change to "8k mode"[31]
  • Nokia Mediamaster 9850T; Pace DTR730 and DTR735, Philips DTX6370, DTX6371 and DTX6372; Pioneer DBRT200 and DBRT210, Sony VTX-D500; Toshiba DTB2000
  • Pace DTVA-T "Wedge Adaptor".
  • Alba ONdigital sets, Bush ONdigital sets.
  • Hitachi 28WDDODTN, 32WD40DTN and D36W840DTN; Panasonic TX-28DT2 and TX-32DT2; Philips 28DW6734, 32DW6834 and 32DW9625.
  • Sony 28DS60, 32DS60, 28DS65, 32DS65, 28DX20, 32DX20, 28DX30, 32DX30, 28DS20, 32DS20, KP41DS1, KP51DS1 and KP51DS2; Toshiba 28WT98B, 32WT98B, 28ZT29B, 32ZT29B, 36ZT29B, 42WT29B, 50WT29B and 57WT29B.
And some boxes fail to work in mixed 2k and 8k environments:
  • Sharp TU-R160H
  • Humax 9200T
  • Thomson DTi 1000
I'm on the latest versions (1.00.21 and 4.09), somewhere said to do a reset and rescan and now it works.

I'm no broadcast engineer but i am techie and this is a big thing, turning off analogue and going digital, no matter how much public awareness campaigns things will go wrong i'm not supprised i've had to do a factory reset as i said this is a big change.

I initially thought that the hummy was only 2k, appararently not which is a relief as i do think it's wrong that these devices are not complient when people bought them in good faith that they were 'digital' but i wonder how many devices will be thrown away mistakenly because they don't work at first - RESET IT!!!
