Cornwall switch over problems

First post, so here goes.

I have a Sony Trinitron TV with an intergrated Digital tuner. I have been watching digital tv for years without any problems. Switch over happened here yesterday, but when I got up yesterday morning, I noticed that BBC1, BBC2 BBC3, CBBC & BBC News 24 had all stopped working. I have re-tuned the TV numerous times over the last few days, but the above channels have disappeared and the TV will not find them. I phoned DigitalTV, but they were next to useless. Any ideas anyone? Research online shows that these channels are all part of Multiplex 1.

PS I am in West Cornwall and our main transmitter is Redruth, however I think we run off the Helston relay station. Father in law 200 metres away can pick these channels up fine and has 95% signal strength, as do I!

Re: Conrwall switch over problems

Does your TV have a digital tick?

If you do have a TV that's on the list, the good news is you can get around it by connecting a Freeview box to replace the internal tuner.

Re: Conrwall switch over problems

I may be a bit late with this reply but many TV's/Set top boxes need to re-tuned. On mine i had to revert to the manufacturers settings to allow the BBC Channels to tune in properly. If I simply did a re-scan the BBC channels were blank!

Re: Conrwall switch over problems

Also a bit late. At dso some multiplexes switch to 8k mode. Early freeview tuners may not be compatible but some can be modified. The OP should check the following list which also states which can be modified

http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/__data/as...d-7_May_09.pdf

If the OP's set is listed as modifiable he should contact Sony customer support

A cheap new freeview stb should restore the full channel count
