Views on TV specs & prices after switchover

Was wondering what folks think / expect will happen after the switchover.

Will analogue tuners completly disapear from TV specs?

Will we have 2 or 3 digital tuners in all TV's for PIP and for no other reason than they will be cheap as chips?

Will TV prices fall as demand rises as all retailers will be competing for sales?

Will TV prices hold steady as retailers and manufactureres are selling more TV's as people react to switchover?

Interested in all your views?!?!?!

Regarding analogue tuners, see the thread a few below this one : What happens to the analogue tuner?

Mckinia, Re the price of TVs post switch-off, it would be in contradiction of the laws of supply & demand if prices fell because demand rose. More likely is that prices will remain much the same, because manufacturers will increase supply to meet any extra demand.

Bear in mind, however, that a digital TV will not be an absolute necessity - many viewers will retain their old analogue TVs, and rely on Freeview receivers, Freeview PVRs & recorders with built in Freeview tuners. (Personally, we've already dispensed with the RF feed from the PVR to the TV, as we never watch analogue these days, though switch-off is not until 2012 in London.)

Re: Views on TV specs & prices after switchover

Analogue tuners will not disappear from TV specs. Maybe for selected markets but not in general. Some countries will switch to digital later, some earlier. Some still need analog tuner to watch cable TV. And the cost of analog tuner comparing to the cost of TV set is very low. From my point of view it is much easier to leave it and have a larger market than removing it to save few bucks and have a TV set with warning "NO ANALOG TUNER!!!".
