Whoops dropped my D700 and 24-70

Well being lazy and not really paying attention, I pick up my bag and forgot it was not done up. I was in my company van so when it fell out it bounced off what looked like a stone and grass

All seems fine, however the lens seems to have stiffened up, when zooming it is tight then loose so I have obviously done something. Back to Nikon after my holiday for an inspection. To be far this was actually quite high to fall and i saw it happen in front of my eyes, that feeling you get of impending doom clouded over, but considering, I am very very lucky.

Moral of the story............................... always zip you back pack up!!!!!!!

Sorry about that.

If you have accidental damage on your contents accidental damage insurance you should be covered for any repair/replacement. My wife dropped her point and shoot on the drive a couple of years ago and we were covered for replacement.

I had to make a similar claim althout mine dropped into sea water so was terminal (still managed to salvage the pictures of the memory card which was a bonus )

You shouldn't have a problem claiming on home contents insurance like me if you've got the accidental cover damage away from home, only issue might be the limit on an individual item.

Re: Whoops dropped my D700 and 24-70

Did the same thin in Spain, noticed the camera slipping and instinctivley stuck my foot out to break the fall ... dont recommend that to be honest as my foot was black and blue for weeks.

Still, the camera was fine

Glad yours seems ok.

They are generally fairly resiliant. But look carefully through your huliday pics when you return for any flaws.

Have already tested camera and lens both are fine, just the stiffness of the barrel being the only issue.
