Just looking for some tripod opinions, looking at 3,

Redsnapper TRI-283 (Aluminium)
Redsnapper TRI 283 C (Carbon)
Manfrotto 055XPROB

Just looking for some comments from people who have used them and what you thought of them, also what heads would you reccomend for them,

The Redsnapper tripod (TRI-283) in aluminium consistently gets rave reviews on this site and others with many stating that it is easily the best tripod for the money. It isn't however, the lightest, so the carbon fibre one may well be preferable if that is an issue and the cost difference isn't.

To be honest looking at their site the weights don't seem too bad, I'm sure that with the carry bag it would be fine, its just that if I go for that Manfrotto its £100+ before a head and a bag, I can easily get the Aluminum Redsnapper with a head for less.
Has anyone used the Carbon Redsnapper?

I have the Redsnapper Aliminium tripod and the monopod.
Both are excellent.

Chris, something else to consider Giottos MTL9361B + MH5001 Tripod & Head kit | Tripods | College Cameras Ltd.

Can't find much info about it tho but it has the features I'm after at a good price

I use the Redsnapper aluminum and ball head. Comes with a carry bag. Total cost was £107.
I cant comment on Manfrotto, but the Snapper is top notch stuff.
Rock solid and easy high adjustment. I dont find it too heavy.

There was a thread about Red sapper a while ago. I posted a few shots of the Ball head in it, they might give you a better idea of what its like.

I've got an 055XPROB with an 808 head and it's a fantastic tripod, very versatile indeed, quick to set up and nice and sturdy but as with all metal tripods it's not the lightest.

It's probably a better tripod than the redsnapper offerings but you will be paying more for it so whether it's worth the extra over the others is up to you.

another vote for redsnapper here. yeah its bit heavy but nothing too bad and the padded case is comfortable to carry.

Thanks folks I am going to buy the Redsnapper and a Ballhead I think, I notice the 3 way head is out of stock are there any quality fairly cheap 3 ways heads available from other manufacturers?

I have the Manfrotto, having bought it after trying lots of different ones out. I highly recommend it, with a decent Manfrotto geared head

It'll depend on weight. Personally, the ballhead as it will take a greater weight load and BTW, it's VERY sensitive to adjustment.

3 way . . . OK for circa 2 kg and a light set-up, but not having used one, maybe those who have it could comment more, though you could try the RS-PG01 pistol grip from RedSnapper in lieu of the 3-way. £49.95.

I have the Redsnapper 3 way but really fancy the pistol grip, looks ideal for macro if you have a decent live view system.
