Canon 400D flash jamming

Anyone experienced the main flash, not opening. It clicks 4 or 5 times, then gives me an error, not allowing me to take a picture. Always managed to get it to take a picture eventually, by cycling the power, but I'm worried one day, it won't....

its a known , if rare fault,
might need fixing

I'm sure it will carry on. hmpphhh, bet it costs a bomb to fix!!
