Question Flash for K20D

I've never used a flash before but I was thinking that now would be as good a time as any to learn now that I've got a Pentax K20D and some money to spare from the sale of my Canon 400D.
I was thinking of buying an ultra wide angle lens instead (Sigma 10-20 or Pentax 12-24) but I think a flash would be more bang for the buck in the long run.
Thoughts and recommendations please.

Re: Flash for K20D

THIS will save a lot of typing

I have the Pentax AF360FGZ and its a good flash with bounce but lacks the swivel feature. I also bought a Metz 58 AF-1 (was a absolutely stupid price on Ebay brand new) but have not had a chance to try that yet as It's in the UK.

If you are happy to go manual or auto (no P-TTL) then there are loads of old Pentax flashes on Ebay that work really well.

How you getting on with the K20D then?

You missed the Pentax 12-24mm's on Jessops clearance sale then .. £250 del brand new (They only had 2).

Thanks, Mike. I'll have a read.
Gutted about missing the Jessops clearance...
Haven't had that much chance to use the K20D yet but I'm impressed so far and the jpegs out of the camera are a big improvement from the K10D.

Re: Flash for K20D

Jessops did have some Pentax AF360 flashes in their sale as well, quite a few people on the Pentax forum got one.

May be worth giving each branch a ring to see if they have any left.

Must admit I have always shot in raw on the K10D.

On the K10D I shot RAW too apart from at the start. It's just nice to switch to jpeg now and again knowing that the results are going to be pretty good and saves time pp'ing.
