Help - digital camera for less than £100

OK, I have read through the forum, for advice on digital cameras but still would like a little assistance. My wife currently has a Samsung, not sure of the model. The battery life is awful, the other week she was getting 10pics max per 2aa batteries. Plus it's a couple of years old. So I was thinking, with mothers day coming up, to buy her a new camera. It doesn't need to be fancy, simply easy to use and a decent battery life. £100 is really the maximum spend - ideally less but certainly no more. Any suggestions - and thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about battery life but I've been looking around for a similar such camera and have looked in vain for the offer that .. Amazon ? .. made me of a simple camera plus matching case in a tasteful shade of my favorite color, Blue. which offer I deleted a bit too soon

Amazon is still pushing these things and here is one in Pink

Samsung S1070 Digital Camera - Pink 2.7'' LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

... now look, I used to be a professional photographer and thus have earned the right to be frivolous.

I am considering the merits of ...

Nikon Coolpix P5100 Digital Camera - Black 2.5" LCD: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Which is a bit beyond your budget but there must be something that sits between the two ?

Hum ... down to £260 on my Nikon ..

Nikon Coolpix P5100 Review on CNET.co.uk

and Lots of filters and so on on that site ...

Battery life is a bit of a problem dependent as it is on so many variables.

I hope that this is of help.

P S ... it was quite a pretty shade of Blue ... problems, problems.

Cheers, that Samsung looks a winner. Her current one is a Samsung S630, also in pink. I would love to be able to spend more, but the budget just isn't there as it's last minute so the price is great.
