Ahoy!

Seems your camera is manual. The lens is 50mm Rokkor. Assume the Sigma is manual focus too. Put it on eBay and hope for the best. I would think £30.00 ish for the job lot. Sorry.

Re: Minolta X700 help

I'm pretty sure that the X700 were MF (i.e. pre AF), so the lenses will be MF (MD) rather than AF (which will reduce the price of the 50mm). The 7000 was Minolta's first AF camera (and indeed, 'the first AF camera')

edit... (X700 was MF)

So you are probably looking at collectors rather than people looking for glass for their Sony. I'd put on Ebay, but (as Pirate said) make sure you have as much detail as possible, with photos etc to get the best price.

Re: Minolta X700 help

Hi Pirate,

thankyou for the information, as regards to the filters i can offer no advice on them, as this is the first time i have got my hands on a film SLR camera.

With regards to the lens, the one that is on the camera the Minolta 50mm is in pristine condition, and no marks on the lens while looking through the view finder, i have looked everywhere on the lens and there is no marking or wear of parts and it operates fine. You mentioned that there are various versions of the 50mm lens and as i have no idea how to identify them lol i will put what it says on the front and post a pic......it says

"Minolta Lens Made in Japan MD Rokkor 1:1.4 f=50mm"

The main camera i have put some new batteries in and get no lights in the viewfinder so guessing the caps need replacing (google search lol) .

The filters, the blue one that is 52mm screws on to the Tonika lens. And after closer inspection there is one on the Minolta lens...so there are two for the minolta.....i will post pics it will make it easier lol

Pictures now attached, the first one is of the 3 filters, the second is just showing the writing on the Tonika lens and the third pic is again the tonika...and the fourth is just to show what writing is on the minolta lens hope this helps

PS, if it's only the lenses that are of value ill sell them and keep the camera for decoration

I've updated my post. Sorry, but I made an immediate assumption it was AF.

Seems you have very nice examples of the type. Unfortunately, the old MF SLR and lenses aren't that much sought after any more, though saying that, with the appropriate M42 adapter ring, the 50mm would still serve anyone well where speed isn't a factor (portrait, landscape etc) and it's f/1.4 . . so VERY wide fully open for low-light and narrow depth of field.

Re: Minolta X700 help

FYI

- Blue filter would be useful for B&W film (no use with Digital)
- Skylight filter is just for lens protection (bit like UV)
- '1x Square ...." = Optical trigger I think!
- '1x Push Button..' = remote shutter release.

A bit sad I know knowing that the X700 was MF as I didn't use a film Minolta camera (so feel a bit of a fake about having this knowledge!). But there was not so long ago, the history of Minolta on sony's website (that's my excuse).

Looks like a lovely camera and I'd love to buy it, but sadly my wife would object me buying a second film camera when I haven't taken my Dynax7 out of it's box yet (which I got about 6 months ago!)

Tough one. I would put it all on the Bay for 99p and let it ride (make sure you state if it works/doesn't work etc). Thing is, unless you have an F42 adapter ring, you cant use MF lenses on an AF body, so an additional expense, though that said, where do you get an f/1.4 50mm prime for a not a lot? I'm not saying 'bin it' but you never know if someone somewhere is looking at bits and pieces of your set.
