ISO Problem on D90

Typical, cant find the manual so hoping someone can help on probably a straightforward problem.

I use my D90 mainly on A setting. I have the iso set to auto. In the past it has always chosen the best iso, normally i set a maximum of 800. I noticed the other day that all pics were at 800 even in good light. I have switched to auto setting, and turned camera off but is is now only using the iso i set.

How can i get this back to using auto iso? I have gone into the menu and selected auto iso with a max of 800 and min 1/8 shutter but still no joy. Would prefer not to restore to factory settings.

Re: ISO Problem on D90

you may have accidentally set the ISO manually to 800. look on the back of your D90, one of the buttons on the left of the screen should say ISO. in shooting mode (ie with the screen off and ready to take a shot), hold down the iso button and roll the thumbwheel. At the same time, look at the LCD display on the top. when you hold down the ISO button, it should display the current ISO speedl, as you roll the thumbwheel, the ISO should change.

bring the ISO down to 200 and see if that helps.

Cheers, had already tried that, done to 200 but then it stayed at 200 !!! Just took battery out and then back in and it looks like it has done the trick - strange!

Re: ISO Problem on D90

I wonder i its a really clever camera that monitors your usage and the auto ISO settings?

The camera now feels it's time you went alone and choose the ISO settings manual based on the light conditions......
