Mamiya - (ok, it's not digital, but hey)

Hi There,

I finally figured out how some of the great photographs i've seen on flickR get the results i aim for - they're using top end medium format film - specifically Mamiya cameras...

so, interest piqued and off to eBay, there seems to be a batch of older cameras that can be had for around a couple of hundred pounds, and i'm figuring I could pick one up, have a play, and sell on again for pretty much what I bought it for...

but, they scare the life out of me! - so many things to consider, and extra parts, and the unknown... does anyone around here have any experience with these camera? know what to look for / what to look out for?

any help appreciated.

cheers,

nelson.

I've had a lone of a Mamiya RZ76, which I think is one of their better models. Infact I think its one of the best as it belonged to the professional landscape photographer Lindsay Roberston who exhibited, solely, alongside Ansel Adams at his exhibition in Edinburgh last but one summer.

As for what to look for I guess it is working condition really! Some do come with metering heads which make them a bit more 'normal' to use but tbh your probably just as well off, if not better, getting a light meter.

That's about all I know I'm afraid!

Hi,

take a look at this :

eBay.be: MAMIYA ---C3 (object 270338821108 eindtijd 12-feb-09 10:48:53 CET)

Excellent stuff, all be it a little special, and watch it for the cost of the film and the processing !

Eventually, some makes may offer digital backs !
