nikon D90

Ok. I'm pretty lucky in that I have some money in the bank but my savings are earning very little at the moment due to the low interest rates and I just spotted a D90 for £719. I know I don't need one, it would just be a for the sake of it purchase but......... I know I could sell the D40 and make some money back which would make it even cheaper This is where you lot come in, you either have to be the voice of my conscience so that I don't buy it or go and buy them all so they are out of stock.....

Re: nikon D90

Just traded up from a D40x and do not regret it one bit. The D90 is great.

My main reason was the ease of use (more hard setting buttons and top LCD) and that I have 2 non motorised lenses. I also find the auto focus much better with the increased number of points together with the active D-lighting.

Well prices are only going one way at the moment. Go for it!

The only place you'll get the D90+kit lens cheaper is from Dixons Tax Free (£693 IIRC). Only worthwhile if you're going via an airport in the not too distant future.

You could also invest in some new glass to hang off the front of it.

Re: nikon D90

went from a d40 to a d90 last month -

superb stuff - was playing about with movie mode last night for the first time properly and was very very impressed with it - takes a good video!

Also makes the previously manual focus 50mm f1.8 a lot more fun to use being autofocus now on the d40.

As a famous marketing manager at Nike once said

Just do it!

The D90 shoots very nicely at ISO 1600; I saw a reply the other day with a very agreeable shot taken at ISO 3200....a vast step up from the D40 (which I used to own ).

If you're into macro shots or want to get focus spot-on then the Live View feature is very useful too.

In terms of sharper images, well that is a little subjective; the processor inside the D90 is definitely a step up from that of the D40 - I would suggest that the lens' used would contribute more though.

No idea, this is the first time I have used them. I blame AV forums for my new telly that I bought boxing day cos I found the deal on here and I blame them for this new toy too as I found the link on this site and all these bad people made me buy it Be careful, they'll get you too!

there was a thread on here; http://www.avforums.com/forums/digit...ealt-them.html

Worth keeping an eye on Argos, if they get any stock in it looks like it will be priced at £743 unless they put it up as well

Argos are out of stock online and at all 10 stores in my area so doesn't seem likely I am a bit disappointed but to be fair to them tradecameras have lifted it from their website and refunded me fairly quickly so that's in their favour. There is a small shop I didn't know was there that I found when I got the D40 so I am off to see what he has, I don't like my local jessops, they are rude!
