Ill hang around for a while but doubt ill bother posting much and certainly wont be recommending this site to anyone else.

Im also on Basschat and thats going the same way. Rules that dont apply to everyone seem to be driving members to other sites and these newer sites are now growing quite quickly. Now that is helping the competition

Dave-bass started a thread to a ask a question in this forum and it was moved to forum feedback which may be why some of you missed it, although the link is still here but slipped down. You need to read it to see what it is about. Towards the end, before it was closed, it was stated that the issue was being discussed and the outcome would be made known to us. I do hope it is sorted out to everyone's satisfaction otherwise we could be losing some regular contributors.

You didnt get shot down, you can use your smugmug and a lot was going on behind the scenes as is now evident

Ok, sorry for posting it but that was done last night before we were told about the outcome.

There were quite a few of us asking why it had happened this way and why flickr wasn't included. We didnt get an answer and i dont think any of the mods even tried.
I would still like to know why i (and smugmug) were singled out in the first place, especially as i have had that link for well over a year or so (at lest).

All i can see is that i can use my smugmug link, just like i have been doing for the past year or so, so no, i cant see that a lot has gone on. we are back where we started.
I would like to thank you and the other mods in here as im guessing you were on our side.
Feel free to delete that post if you want.

Lets hope we can now get back to business and put the past two days behind us. it would be a shame if people stated leaving over it.

Ian J did it was because smugmug had links to DP review forums ( rival forums) Flickr does not . Nonetheless it was recognised that
AVF has own galleries albeit basic
Online Galleries are a bit more intrisic to photography than say gaming sites are to say the Xbox or PS3 forums
Hence rather than scarp them all Smugmug was reinstated

Saying that the atmosphere of that thread had become (IMHO) inflamatory to the extent even the most temperate mod would think twice before commenting. I think it went on a bit longer than it should have

You know why with smugmug now . As to why you were singled. It was really just another mod diligently trying to enforce the rules .The action not specifically targeting, just
perhaps done thinking zone or myself had not noticed .

I would disagree
The threads Started by Stuart regarding AVF galleries, Reorganising the forums into subforums, Open views on links in signatures and restoring smugmug are a direct result of " not a lot going on" and may result in reworking the rules to restore harmony so.. we are moving foward IMHO by the time the thought and actions from the threads materialise

Yes you did hint that it was being looked at but as these were old rules i couldn't understand why all of a sudden it was an issue where it hadnt been before. I though you meant my case was being looked in to.

And i think im a bit out of sync with your post in this and the other thread so ill shut up now and just enjoy being a member here again.

As many of us have said, there are other message boards but for us this is the best. keep up the good work.

I'm quite new here and don't really want to sounds like I'm butting in, but you guys don't allow links to one of the most popular photo sharing sites, because it has a link to another photography forum on it?

Isn't that a bit harsh?

It's not hard to type in 'photography forum' in google and get a load of results. Surely people post here because they like it and find it very inspiring/useful and would like to share their work with other members? If you don't allow posters the ability to share their gallery link, surely traffic and post numbers will diminish?

Although not personally affected, in that I don't use a sig, I would like to thank the mods for listening and responding. I'm very pleased to see this sorted, if for no other reason that this is a very good forum and it can now continue to be so.
