Some old and new family portraits

I've fairly recently had a new addition to my family called Ben who is now 6 weeks old so i took few random photos today took with my also fairly new D90

Similar photo but bit of different angle and had to resort to a dummy to keep him quiet

Least favourite photo of Ben from bunch but i still liked it

And a old favourite of mine why im doing family photos ...its of my other son Daniel from 4 years ago took on my 3.2meg Sony camera which had no zoom

3 years old photo from my old S7000 Daniel and his mum

Congrats

Really like the first shot. The shallow focus and the angle relative to the bedcover/background creates a sense of depth. The natural backlighting is nice too.

If you wanted a bit more light on the face you could use a reflector (or improvise with tinfoil) to bounce some of that natural light back onto the face and eyes.

Re: Some old and new family portraits

Thanks for the friendly comments and advice
I might look at the reflector idea as i've got a bit of Paypal funds left to spend so i may see if theres any fairly cheap ones on ebay as its just for random family photos at home i'll be using it for.
