Making it all worthwhile

Weddings are hard work, but usually pretty enjoyable. Every now and again I get a couple who are just fantastic to work with and I know will be great to shoot. Even so, there's always the period waiting for their feedback where I wonder whether they love them.

My 29th November wedding was one of these, and I had 2 emails from them this morning having returned from honeymoon:

The bride:

'Dom and I arrived back from honeymoon yesterday and spent most of the evening looking through them. The photos are absolutely beautiful, we love them and they're exactly what we wanted (and glad you liked the first dance!). Thank you also for all your help on the day, you managed to capture so much of it without us even realising it. We both had an amazing day and really thank you for your part in it.'

The groom:

'Heather’s comments absolutely sum up everything. The photos, your style, and the way you handled the whole day made it so enjoyable, and the output through the photos is incredible. We really appreciate the work you’ve put in, and we can say that your style of working really made such a positive impact on the whole of the event.'

I just spoke to the bride and she's so delighted it makes every moment utterly worthwhile.

So, this is why I shoot weddings. To be a part of someone's biggest day and get this response.

Just wanted to share it.

Yeah thats really nice my wife and I spent a long time writing a thankyou letter for our wedding photographer cause he was fantastic, having worked in service industries we realise how important it is to get great feedback like that (if it is deserved of course!) cause it makes whatever job you are doing or have done feel so worthwhile.

Well done although having seen your pictures I'm not surprised in the least you provoke that kind of response from your clients

EDIT :

My Brother In Law is a wedding photographer and he had a similar response a client of his wrote to him to say how much they liked the pictures. It was one of his first weddings and it gave him a lot of confidence that letter.

Nice to hear the actual outcome, I don't think I'd be able to deal with it though - if a couple weren't happy with the photo's theres no way you can take them again. Good job I don't plan on being a wedding photographer!

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest! I've always checked out your pics on here and visited your site many times.

Great pictures that all have a nice "Feel" to them. I imagine you have many many very happy clients and doubtless many more to come!!

Ahoy!

Personally, whilst I wouldn't mind being a 'roaming shooter', the one thing I would fear the most is cocking it up. Weddings are basically a one-hit deal. Get it right, you are most worthy and all God-like . . get it wrong, run away!

I'm not personally qualified for such things, but gawd bless those who are. You get my respect, 'cos if you did b@ll$ it up, there would be merry hell to pay.

Nice one Guy. I can imagine that there's a lot of pressure on your shoulders when it comes down to it, and I don't envy you that, but it doesn't seem to affect your shots. Hat off to you.
