DMC LX3 Exposure fault

Hi,

I am about to send my Panasonic dmc lx3 back to the retailer as it shows a bright streak of light vertically over the full frame from any light source under any awb setting. I have just watched several videos posted by users of this camera and the problem is clearly not just my camera.

Anyone know the technical term for this error ? Over exposure / not enough white balance ?

Thanks

I have seen what i think you are describing on the LCD of several Panasonic camera's i have owned, but it never shows in the taken shot. is what you describe showing in the shot or just the LCD.

Re: DMC LX3 Exposure fault

Hi thanks for the reply,

I havent gone any further with the camera because i can see the error posted in several videos from different owners and that makes it clear to me that there is a major fault and I simply wont trust it.

This guys video shows it very well on far right side:

YouTube - DMC-LX3 VGA(640×480) 30fps 24bit 縦線が気になる

I have now seen at least 6 different videos from 6 different users all with the same error.

Do you know what the technical photographic term for this error is, so that i can put a note in the box ?

Thanks again

Sorry i must have miss understood you, i thought you were referring to still images not video's, i have never seen the streaks in recorded video but do see them on the LCD while recording.

Re: DMC LX3 Exposure fault

Hi,

Ive just tested in my office, the streak is glaring and huge down the screen but did not come out in the saved picture, but it most certainly came out in the quick video that I shot - right through the center of the framed shot and much brighter and wider than the streaks in the video above.

Simply unacceptable to be honest.

Hope others get the chance to read this and have a look at some of the videos posted before they consider buying one.
